Running Guide: Anchorage, Alaska

A bucket-list destination of its own, what Anchorage has to offer should be even more appealing to runners. Right from downtown, runners can hop on several paths, including the popular Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. This 11-mile paved trail follows the coast overlooking Cook Inlet and leads into Kincaid Park. Kincaid Park itself is also a gorgeous place to run, with wildlife sightings likely.

Annual destination races give even more reason to visit, such as the Anchorage Mayor’s Marathon & Half Marathon, planned around the Summer Solstice Festival. In addition to full and half marathon distances, the Anchorage RunFest in August hosts a 49K, recognizing Alaska’s addition as the 49th state.

A post-run morning coffee at Dark Horse Coffee Company is a must. In the afternoon, choose from several locally owned breweries and a cidery.

Developed by Running Lifestyle, in collaboration with Skinny Raven Sports, the Anchorage running guide provides all the recommendations a runner needs to get the most out of their visit.
