Miles of Lakefront Paths, Open Tracks, Forested Paths, and Epic Views!

Whether you’re visiting Chicago for a business trip or to explore and sightsee, it’s easy to immerse yourself in Chicago’s running community. Run clubs meet on all days of the week, including Fleet Feet run clubs from all four of its Chicago locations, providing a variety of options for visiting runners to join. And on any weekend morning, you'll find runners getting in their long runs along the Lakefront Trail, often in preparation for one of

Chicago's annual races, such as the Shamrock Shuffle, Soldier Field 10, or the Chicago Marathon.

Other popular running routes include the 2.2-mile outer loop of Humboldt Park, with additional mileage on The 606, an elevated pedestrian bridge that runs through several neighborhoods. Lake-adjacent Lincoln Park, just north of downtown, and Jackson Park, south of downtown, are also popular spots.

After your run, a stop for donuts should be on the itinerary. Donut shops around downtown include small-batch baker Beacon Doughnuts, old-fashioned donuts from Doughnut Vault, and gluten-free and vegan options from Firecakes and Do-Rite Donuts & Chicken.

Developed by Running Lifestyle, in collaboration with Fleet Feet Chicago, the Chicago running guide provides all the recommendations a runner needs to get the most out of their visit. Visit the full Chicago guide on Running-Lifestyle.com.

From TravelRunner.com: The Lincoln Park Zoo offers free admission and can provide a “Safari” like feel to your run with a little detour from the Lake Front Trail.

There are three open and easily accessible tracks located just off the Lake Front Trail. Montrose Beach to the North, Lake Shore Park downtown, and Jackson Park to the South.

Be careful running close to the water! In some areas moss has grown on the cement and is extremely slippery!

Staying near the airport? Be sure to check out the forested Des Plaines River Trails. However, be sure to mind your steps for roots and mud.
